A Cut-Flower Farm Needed a Good Vibe
This small cut flower farm prides itself on its organic, pesticide-free, ethical practices and love of community. Selling both by weight and by bouquet at local farmer's markets, they needed an expression of their friendly, yet sturdy, homespun personality.
Sunflowers were an important presence for this woman-owned operation. I chose to hand-draw the type early on, preferring a sort of "folk" art look. I started with base fonts for this approach, before processing them via my own hand. I also likes the idea of combining a strong slab holding up and swashy script, to show the muscle behind this delicate product and to give the familiar name an appropriate emphasis as it would be spoke, to wit: this is the last STRAW!
